How to Set Up D-LINK AC1200 Wi-Fi Range Extender DAP-1620 Using the WPS Button?

In order to connect an access point or wireless router and extend the network in your house, you have to make sure that the Access Point or the source router has a virtual or an actual WPS button.
Now, let’s proceed to the steps to set it up.

  1. While the WPS LED is blinking amber, you have to push the access point or the source router’s WPS button. Thereafter, you have to push the WPS button on the D-LINKDAP-1620. The LED light will begin flashing green. Give the process 2 minutes to be complete. The LED light will then turn solid green if the extender has been connected successfully to the access point or the source wireless router.
  2. In case the Signal Indicator on the extender has a single amber bar after it is connected, you will know that it has poor connection quality. For improving the connection quality, move the DLINK AC1200 DAP-1620 to a wall outlet that is closer to the access point or source wireless router. The more bars light-up on the Signal Indicator, the better signal you have.
  3. Now, you have to connect the devices to the DLINK DAP-1620. It is ready to share the extended internet network with mobile devices and PC. You can use the WPS methods for connecting to the extended network that has been created by the extender using the network names given below. The password for this is going to be the same as the wireless network you are extending.
    • 5 GHz: (Your router’s SSID)-EXT5G
    • 2.4 GHz: (Your router’s SSID)-EXT

It is better to use the 5GHz extension network if you want to achieve faster speeds.
